SUMMARY:USDA Rural Energy for America Program Renewable Energy Systems & Energy Efficiency Improvement Guaranteed Loans
DESCRIPTION:The program provides guaranteed loan financing to agricultural producers and rural small businesses to purchase and install renewable energy systems or to make energy efficiency improvements. Agricultural producers may also apply for new energy efficient equipment and new system loans for agricultural production and processing. The loan guarantees are available on loans up to 75 percent of total eligible project costs. \nApplicants must be agricultural producers or rural small business owners. Projects must be located in rural areas with populations of 50\,000 residents or less. See USDA’s eligibility map for more information. \nGuaranteed Loan Process:\n– Guaranteed loan applications are open year‑round.\n– The process begins by working with a commercial lender who will originate the loan.\n– The lender applies for a guaranteed loan from USDA if they determine it would benefit the bank or the borrower.\n– The guarantee primarily provides insurance for the bank\, not the customer\, and there is a cost associated with it. The lender will suggest pursuing a guarantee if it makes sense. Borrowers typically start with their current bank to ask if they participate in USDA guaranteed loan programs.\n– USDA does not maintain an official list of participating lenders\, as any eligible lender may take part. \nLearn more and apply here. \n  \nNote: This opportunity is not affiliated with WaSHI.

SUMMARY:Zero Foodprint Restore Grant
DESCRIPTION:The Restore program funds grants up to $25k or farmers and ranchers implementing regenerative practices. \nThe program serves as a catalyst for federal\, state\, and regional efforts to increase the beneficial ecosystem services provided by agriculture and specifically to advance climate change goals by improving soil health and sequestering atmospheric carbon. In doing so\, the program aims also to engage the public in supporting the resilience and carbon benefit potential of the agricultural economy and land holdings. \nThe financial incentives made available through the Restore program enable farmers and ranchers to adopt conservation practices and\, in exchange\, businesses and consumers gain the opportunity to directly improve regional food systems and take regionalized climate action. The soil health practices funded through Restore will accrue value to the agricultural operation as well\, improving water and nutrient management\, among other benefits. \nHow to Apply\nStep 1: Read the grant guidelines and determine eligibility. You can also sign up for our October 20th info session here. \nStep 2: Develop a scope of work of 1 to 4 eligible conservation practices. \nStep 3: Input practices into the COMET Planner (linked in the application) to determine the CO2 sequestration. \nStep 4: Find a Technical Assistance Provider to sign on to the project if awarded. \nStep 5: Submit your application! The deadline for submissions is November 4th at midnight. Award decisions will be sent by mid December.
