DESCRIPTION:The For Farmers Movement is offering 3 grant opportunities. Apply to access funding for something you need on your farm to help you get to the next level\, to get by\, or to get going! What you apply for is up to you! \n\nFoundational Grants: $500 to $1000 for infrastructure\, equipment\, supplies\, innovation\, making up for a loss and more. We will award a minimum of 100 of these grants.\nLand Stewardship Grant: $5\,000 for a farm that is committed to caring for the land in ways that strengthen soil\, protect natural resources\, and support the long-term health of the farm and its surrounding ecosystem. We will award one Land Stewardship Grant. Made possible with support from Progressive Hedonist.\nTransformational Grant: $10\,000 for farm project that has a profound impact on farm operations and the community. We will award at least one Transformational Grant. Made possible with support from a private foundation.\n\nThe application opened July 1\, 2026 and the deadline to apply is Monday\, October 12 at midnight EST. Grant awards will be announced on Wednesday\, December 2 at noon EST. \nApply here!

DESCRIPTION:The Western SARE Farmer/Rancher Research & Education Grant Program focuses on advancing on-farm sustainability solutions by funding innovative producer-driven research and outreach. \nProducers may apply for up to $35\,000. SARE Farmer/Rancher grant are designed to support an agricultural producer (main applicant) and technical advisor to work together to implement a project (1-3 years in scope) that addresses identified needs in sustainable agriculture. SUMMARY:Cover Crop Field Day
DESCRIPTION:Join Dharma Ridge Farm\, Jefferson Conservation District\, WSU Extension\, and soil health specialists from the Washington Soil Health Initiative for a hands-on workshop exploring practical approaches to soil health and cover crop management! \nFarmer\, Zach Wailand\, will lead a tour of Dharma Ridge Farm\, sharing how cover crop practices are incorporated into the farm’s production system. WSU Extension Soil Scientist\, Doug Collins\, will discuss cover crop management\, with a focus on timing termination for successful crop rotations. WSDA Senior Soil Scientist and Climate Coordinator\, Dani Gelardi\, will lead an in-field soil health assessment\, helping participants move beyond lab tests to learn practical ways to observe and evaluate their soil. Using NRCS soil health principles\, participants will explore indicators such as soil color\, biological activity\, and water infiltration and practice simple assessment techniques they can use on their own farms. \nDate: Thursday\, September 3rd \nTime: 1:00 – 4:00 pm \nLocation: Chimacum\, WA. Farm address will be provided upon registration. \nSpeakers: Zach Wailand of Dharma Ridge Farm; WSDA Senior Soil Scientist and Climate Coordinator\, Dani Gilardi; and WSU Extension Professor and Soil Scientist\, Doug Collins. \nAudience: Beginning farmers\, diversified vegetable producers\, orchard and perennial crop growers\, livestock producers\, small acreage landowners\, anyone interested in improving soil health. \nPlease only register for the farm walk if you plan to attend as there is limited space for this event. DESCRIPTION:Thinking about upgrading your farm equipment? \nWSDA’s Climate Smart Farm Equipment Grant opens September 4th\, and now is the time to prepare. Eligible Washington producers may receive reimbursement to help purchase equipment that improves soil health\, reduces greenhouse gas emissions\, and strengthens resilience of Washington agriculture. Funded by Washington’s Climate Commitment Act\, this program reimburses commercial agriculture and aquaculture operations for a portion of the cost of eligible equipment used in on-farm production. \nUp to $4.3 million is available on a first-come\, first-served basis for Fiscal Year 2026.
