Western SARE Farmer/Rancher Research & Education Grant

Western Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE), USDA

Projects with 1-2 producers may apply for grants up to $25,000, while projects with 3 or more producers may apply for up to $29,900. For this grant producers work with a technical advisor to develop a project that conducts research and outreach on a sustainable agriculture topic. Producers must conduct on-site/on-farm experiments to address social, environmental, and economic aspects of agricultural sustainability. Results must be communicated to other producers via on-farm demonstrations, farmer-to-farmer educational activities, or other approaches to assist producer adoption of sustainable agriculture practices.

Eligibility

Primary applicant must be a producer(s) working with a technical advisor (TA) in one of the following U.S. states or territories: Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Colorado, Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Northern Mariana Islands, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
