Alt text: Promotional flyer for a “Discover Hedgerows” hands-on workshop. Across the top are logos for Native Plant Salvage Foundation, Thurston Conservation District, and WSU Extension Thurston County over a faded background photo of a farm field bordered by vegetation. A green banner reads “DISCOVER HEDGEROWS.” Below, large text announces a “Hands-On Hedgerow Demonstration Workshop” on Saturday, November 7, 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM at Summit Farms. Illustrations of native shrubs and flowering plants frame the center text. A highlighted section invites participants to learn how thoughtful hedgerow design benefits farms and surrounding ecosystems. The lower portion includes a QR code for registration and a list of topics: site preparation techniques, hedgerow installation, and impacts on wildlife habitat, crop production, and water quality. Contact information reads: Questions? Reach out to Riana Sinner at rsinner@thurstoncd.com. Fine print notes that the project is a collaboration among Summit Farms, Thurston Conservation District, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, WSU Extension, and Native Plant Salvage Foundation, supported by Thurston County Community Planning, NRCS, and Western Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education funding.

Join Summit Farms for a hands-on look at how thoughtful hedgerow design can create big benefits for the farm and surrounding ecosystem!

We’ll explore site preparation techniques and walk through how this hedgerow is being designed to expand wildlife habitat, support crop production, and protect water quality. Come learn how a single planting can serve multiple purposes on the farm and get inspired to put these ideas to work on your own land.

Funding for this project is provided by Thurston County and Western Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education.
