Field Day: Under-Vine Cover Crop Hydroseeding
September 17 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Free

Join the Washington Soil Health Initiative for a field day at Hedges Family Estate, an organic and biodynamic vineyard. Vineyard Manager, Reid Wilson, and WaSHI Soil Health Vineyard Researcher and Manager, Liz Gillispie, will explain and demonstrate the use of hydroseeding to establish under-vine cover crops. Hydroseeding involves spraying a slurry of seed, recycled paper mulch or straw, and water onto the soil to promote rapid vegetation establishment and weed suppression.
Topics will include:

- Suitable under-vine cover crop species for our region
- Soil health benefits of hydroseeding and cover crops
- Hydroseeding technology review and live demonstration
